Welcome to the Secret Coast Radio podcast broadcasting somewhere on the Secret Coast
Let us begin by saying:
We prefer the first person plural over the singular.
We prefer mystery over journalism.
We prefer snow over drought.
We prefer walks around lakes before deciding the truth of a matter over decisions made with instant uninformed judgment.
We prefer roadside Christmas trees rooted in the ground over dead ones suspended in plastic bowls.
We prefer giving books away over having them rot in garages or warehouses.
We prefer George C. Scott’s portrayal of Scrooge over all others.
We prefer schmaltzy Christmas tales over decapitating Halloween stories.
We prefer giving gifts of something found at random and then refashioned over ordering crap from a corporate retail center manned by robots.
We prefer Rosemary Clooney’s Christmas songs over Mariah Carey’s, Willie Nelson’s over Taylor Swift’s, Sammy Davis Junior’s over John Davidson’s. And we prefer Bob Dylan’s Christmas album over all others because it seem almost indifferent to Christmas, which of course, many people are.
We prefer silent nights over noisy ones.
We really feel sad for those actors who chose to act in Christmas commercials that sell crap to people. But they made the choice, took the money, and god rest their souls. Maybe decades from now they’ll perform Christmas Carol in a memory care facility, kill it and atone.
We prefer lumps of coal and seed packets in stockings over gadget and gewgaws.
What is this podcast about? Who are we?
Like we said, mystery over journalism.
