writing these words<\/p>\n\n\n\n
while the old husky squints and sleeps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out to sea I see pelicans fly,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
lope a better verb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Coast Guard helicopter hovers offshore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Someone went missing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
most likely the woman with dementia who lived on a bluff above this beach,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
whose tracks midnight tracks led to the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her son was moving her to Idaho the next morning<\/p>\n\n\n\n
after 62 years in her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I see clouds at the midline,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
frayed at the edges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can\u2019t name them<\/p>\n\n\n\n
although I am reading a book on clouds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes naming drains magic from the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The waves break green and white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to dive in with her,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
go under,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
go deep,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
jump up,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
embrace,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
kiss,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
unnerve others with our mystery,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
break into vacant vacation rentals,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
drink all their booze,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
admire the stock seascapes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and lacquered gulls,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
laugh,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
at those clothed city fools,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and plan our collaborative nameless work,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
