while the old husky squints and sleeps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The waves break green and white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I want to dive in with her,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
go under,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
go deep,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
jump up,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
embrace,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
kiss,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
laugh,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
at those clothed city fools,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and plan our collaborative work of art,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
otherwise known as life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out to sea I see pelicans fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lope is a better verb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A helicopter hovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Someone is lost at sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I see clouds at the midline,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
frayed at the edges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can\u2019t name them<\/p>\n\n\n\n
although I am reading a book on clouds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes naming drains magic in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Writers name too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don\u2019t want to be that writer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\u2019s an artist, not a namer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She always follows her fluid intuition,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
which is how we met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We didn\u2019t try to name why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was wine that night on the rock,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
or whiskey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can\u2019t remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I remember everything else,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dance, her outstretched arms,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The creek, the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that way of dangling over me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dangling! What an action!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
