Every morning two crows perch<\/p>\n\n\n\n
on a wire above my home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For seven months<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have watched them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They groom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They lean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They huddle against wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They nod their heads as one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They survey the street as one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They caw together like a choir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They chatter sweet nothings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have what I don’t have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And may never have again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I nourish these corvids with<\/p>\n\n\n\n
crackers, chips and bread<\/p>\n\n\n\n
tossed on the lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes even gristle<\/p>\n\n\n\n
