The clock strikes three in the\nafternoon. I kind of wish I was building a driftwood fort in the\nclouds on the beach. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’m designing an ad for a one-man\ncarpet cleaning service. If I create a good ad, his business will\nimprove and more dirty carpets in the community will be cleaned. I am\nmindful of my responsibility to create a good ad and take that\nresponsibility seriously, and utterly without irony. I hope the\ncarpet cleaner cleans carpets with the kind of mindfulness I\npractice designing his ad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Are we mindful when we perform tasks?\nOn my construction job, my boss demonstrated excellent mindfulness\nand it was occasionally punctuated with staccato glorious bursts of\nprofanity, which in his case, improved the performance of the task at\nhand. Nothing like cursing motherfucker<\/em> to focus the mind. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the carpet cleaning ad, I’ll move\nonto the ad for the senior center lunch and hope I can find an\nelegant illustration of gravy. Then I’ll work on ads for chicken feed\nand a pancake breakfast to support a charitable cause. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n I look at the pot shop again. Two young\nblonde women holding their phones in front of their faces walk in. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n Out anther window I see a log truck\nrumble by. I wince on behalf of some murdered watershed. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n What an interesting new journey I am\non.
