Just past dawn. Super low tide. I’m\nmoving down the beach in meandering fashion, picking up limpets of\nall kinds, and hairy tritons, too. I love the heart-shaped look of\nthe latter, the two chambers, both ready for love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An osprey flies overhead. It’s carrying\na crab in its talons. I’ve never seen that before. That makes osprey\nsightings in two straight days. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I reach the end of the beach and face a\ncliff of rock 200 feet high. I look up and see two Canadian geese\nstanding atop the cliff. They start honking. I’ve never seen geese on\na cliff before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I look down and to my left and see a\nsingle orange sea star stuck to a rock. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geese above. Sea star below. Geese. Sea\nstar. I’ve never seen that combination before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What beautiful incongruity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Worthy of a poem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Worthy of a painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Worthy of a song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Worthy of a ten minute film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or an essay about the beautiful\nincongruities in my life,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and I certainly have them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I take a photograph. It utterly fails\nto convey the beauty although if you look hard, you will see the\ngeese in the upper right and the sea star in the lower left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
